Ibiza Murphy has more than 18 years of experience in both the public and private sector, specializing in safety, security, and emergency preparedness. For the past 12 years, Ibiza has been a part of Florida Power & Light (FPL), where she currently serves as the Director of Corporate Safety and Emergency Preparedness. In this role, Ibiza oversees the implementation of comprehensive safety protocols and emergency response strategies, ensuring the well-being of employees and the continuity of operations. Prior to joining FPL, Ibiza worked for the Palm Beach County School District Police Department and the Office of the State Attorney 15th Judicial Circuit.

Recognized as an expert in her field, Ibiza founded the Energy Sector Analyst Roundtable (ESAR), a prestigious network of more than 250 energy sector professionals from more than 85 utilities. Under her leadership, ESAR became the first private sector organization of its kind to be granted a ‘Community of Interest’ portal on the Homeland Security Information Network (HSIN) platform. For her exceptional achievements, Ibiza was honored with the “Best of HSIN – Gold Award” for interagency collaboration from the Department of Homeland Security.

Ibiza is responsible for maturing FPL’s corporate safety framework, with a focus on culture, compliance, and education. She collaborates with local, state, and federal agencies to align company practices with government regulations and while overseeing investigations into safety incidents and the development and implementation of corrective measures. Her effective management of crisis events and her development of comprehensive response plans play a critical role in minimizing risk exposure for employees and the company.

A proud graduate of Florida State University with a master’s degree in criminology, Ibiza brings a strong academic background to her role and a stronger commitment to fostering a culture that promotes a safe and secure workplace. These initiatives have led and continue to lead to significant enhancements of FPL’s safety programs.

Residing in Palm Beach County, Ibiza is married, with two children. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and two rescue dogs. Ibiza’s unwavering dedication to corporate safety and emergency preparedness continues to strengthen FPL’s mission of providing clean, affordable, and reliable electricity.
